Me and Ol' Blue checking in.
Hey folks, figured I join the fun over here. Can never have enough sites dedicated to the Firebird and Trans Am.
I was 10 years old when the Firebird came out and I've been addicted ever since. In 1974, I saw a 73 T/A SD455 on a dealer lot and knew I had to own a T/A. In 1980, I finally could afford to buy a T/A. I always wanted to buy my dream car new and keep it forever. In Oct, I ordered my T/A with the blue paint, gold decals and camel tan interior. I always loved that blue so my T/A had to painted that color. MANY people think I have rocks in my head for keeping the 301 engine, but with only 39,000 miles on the clock it runs great so I don't feel the need to replace it. It's a cruiser.... fine by me. 29 years later I'm still having fun with my T/A.
I'm a member of the club that produces the All Firebird Lawn Show in Saratoga and would like to thank the Charter Oak Firebirds for coming to the show every year and helping us build this show into a great event. I know you guys are there but I'm so busy with the show I haven't been able to stop and say hello. Hopefully I can change that this year.
I'll be watching the events section to see if I can come down your way for a show or a cruise.

Welcome to the Board. You have a great looking Trans Am. Hope to see you post more often.
The Pontiac 301 engine is a misunderstood and underappreciated motor.
It is good that you kept your car all original.

I agree 100% The only thing most people know about the 301 is that it's not a 400 or 455. No, it's not the most powerful engine but it's NOT a bad engine. It doesn't deserve the bad reputation it gets.
Thanks for the kind words about my T/A.

Re: Me and Ol' Blue checking in.
I hear you 4SPEED. Trans Am... muscle car... horsepower.... I get it. But when GM had to meet the govt fuel and emission standards, the 400 died and that left the 301. But people wanted their T/A with horsepower so many of them walked away. I understand... I wish the 400 or 455 was still around in 1981. If people don't like the 301, that's fine. If they want to replace it with a 400 or 455 that's fine too. It's their car. But I don't like people telling me that the 301 is a POS and I should replace it with another better engine. I've never asked anyone's opinion, but they always give it to me anyway.
It's nice to hear from guys like you and 69_RAG_TOP.
Ending my rant.
I totally understand that Saratoga is too long of a drive for you. It's an 11-12 drive for me to get to the T/A Nats... that's why I haven't been there yet. I gotta make the trip one of these years. YES, lots of fun and pics.
