I own a first, second and third generation Firebird or Trans Am.

All of them have their styling cues, their handling and performance characteristics.

I have to say that I like the third generation cars the best...why?

Great performance, refined handling, performance suspensions and modern classic styling.

2nd gen, it was my first car in 1984. a 79 403 car. I got up every morning to go to school just so I could drive it.

I like them all but 2nd gens are my favorite. I like the overall styling... the "beak" on the 70-73, the shaker, the nose on the 77-78, etc, etc. The profile of the 2nd gen T/A is probably my favorite of any car. The shaker, the fastback, the spoiler, the splitters... nice. Cool

I like the 2nd generation when i purchased the firebird back in the day 1980 it looked a lot sporter than the camaro and the firebird is a lot roomer than the mustang and still is today. long live the firebird.

Second Gen

Post by Steve on Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:36 pm

I was never a car nut growing up until at 17 I saw my first 1979 Trans Am. The car was brand spanking new in SE trim and it was breathtaking. I have loved Firebirds from that very moment on. At first I only liked the '79 design. They looked so aerodynamic with teh grille-less front end. I grew to appreciate the other years as well and eventually grew to love them all. I read everything I could about them, there was not much literature on cars at the time. I saved every magazine to this day.
