Drive In Movie

Post by Steve on Mon Jul 11, 2011 10:07 pm

It was a busy June so I couldn't do much but the idea of the drive in has not been forgotten. There are two drive in's listed in CT, One in Mansfield and another in Pleasant Valley. We were talking tonight and I still think it is a great idea. Unfortunately neither has a show schedule but I know the one in Mansfield has three screens. I had called them several months ago and even though they can't show Smokey and the Bandit they seemed willing to hold some spaces open for us.

My schedule is pretty open. What about the weekend of the 23rd?

Steve,

You guys talk about doing this but no one ever plans anything... lol.

Go ahead and just pick a date if you are looking at a Drive-In in Massachusetts..

I will be at the Little Rhody Pontiac Car Show on July 23, but there may be other guys that may want to go to a Drive-In Movie.

My two cents...

If you are looking for a Drive-In in Connecticut I recommend the Mansfield Drive In located at the junction of Route 31 and Route 32, 228 Stafford Road, Mansfield CT. Phone is 860-423-4441.

The place is fantastic. They have three giant screens and parking for a thousand cars. The largest screen is ~100 feet wide and they have one screen dedicated to family only style movies.

We went there with my 1969 Firebird convertible and we took my teenage daughter and her college friends. They charge you only $18 for a summer carload on Wednesday nights.

I received a flyer at a cruise tonight about a get together in Shelton. They will have a 20 foot by 40 foot screen where they will show toy story 3. The flyer said the sound will be broadcast over a fm radio station in stereo for listening. If anyone would like more information I will dig the flyer out of my huge growing stack in the car.

Rick,

The Shelton Drive In looks like a good opportunity for a night out if you live in Southern CT.

I justed wanted to add that this is located in the New Haven area. Not a problem for me since it is only an hour away from Mystic CT.

But this is a long, long way for Steve and our friends from the PVFA guys... another 75 miles from the Mansfield Drive In.

This would be a long two and a half hour drive back at night for the Massachusett club.

Maybe the Mansfield Drive In or Pleasant Valley Drive In could be scheduled for each region so that the drive time is under an hour.
