trying to start or looking for Registry on 1969 trans ams
hi guys I know how they have Registry's for the 73-74 super duty's but is there one for the 69 Trans Am. I have owned my car for over 30 years and out of the 697 how many are still out there? If there is not a Registry out there, is away that I could start one?

I haven't heard of one. Being that it's a 69 Trans Am it is going to be a VERY short but impressive list . I could setup a section here for you. Were you could post up you information and maybe as you find other 69 Trans Am owners have them also post their info.
I'm not sure what info you or the others would be willing to share. But I could star a excel file and post it.

Re: trying to start or looking for Registry on 1969 trans ams
Unlike other Pontiac registries, the 1969 Pontiac Trans Am is a very small list.
I own a 1969 Pontiac Firebird convertible but I do not know any one personally that has a 1969 Pontiac Trans Am. I have seen these rare cars for sale at auction and I know a dealer in Milford CT who has one for sale at a very high price.
First of all only 689 Trans Am coupes were built. Only 8 Trans Am convertibles were built.
How many of these survived rust, damage, accidents and the scrap yard?
Some have guessed that only 200 genuine Trans Ams remain. Of these experts have guessed that less than 150 are complete cars that have been restored with new parts and are roadworthy.
The problem that you get with a registry that is open to the public is that not every owner wants to list his car on the list. This is true for the owners of Pontiac Trans Am Indianapolis Pace cars. They do not want to go public with the information.
This may be for several reasons. The owner may not want the car's location disclosed. The owner may not want the VIN number and Body Tag numbers made public. The owner may not want someone to challenge the authenticity of the car as to being a genuine Trans Am.
I recall many years back that a person in Texas had restored a 1969 Trans Am and it had sold privately several times during the 1990's. Some auction bidder purchased the car and had it inspected by an expert and was told that the car was not a genuine Trans Am because the VIN plate did not have the original factory studs holding it to the firewall.
If there was a committe of 1969 Trans Am experts that would recognize a car as a genuine 1969 Pontiac Trans Am, I think that the concept of a 1969 Pontiac Trans Am Registry would be successful. But who would volunteer to be on the committee and would they be able to visit all car owners to verify their cars? Could it be done by Pontiac PHS, engine codes, VIN tags and photos?
This is just my two cents and may not reflect the opinion of other Trans Am owners.

Very good story knowing the history of the car.
You are one of the fortunate few to have a 1969 Pontiac Trans Am.
Good luck talking with Pontiac PHS. I am sure they would be able to give you good advice as to how to start a registry.
Post up some photos of your car. I would like to see that RAM Air III engine.
