In 1970 the world's largest producers of automobiles was the United States.

The American auto executives were worried about Toyota, Datsun and Volkswagen in 1970. They knew that the Japanese and Asian markets now monopolized the textile, clothing, shoe, radio and television industry.

In 1970 the foreign car market share was 17% of the total United States auto sales market.

In 1970 General Motors was the number one brand, Ford Lincoln Mercury was number two, Chrysler Dodge Plymouth was number three and American Motors Jeep was number four.

Honda did not exist on June 1, 1970.

In 1970 the American car market share was 83% and the foreign car market share was 17% of the total United States market.

In 2010 the world's largest producers of automobiles was Japan.

The American auto executives are worried about Korea, China and India in 2010.

In 2010 Toyota was the number one brand, Volkswagen was number two, Honda was number three brand, Ford Lincoln Mercury was number four brand and General Motors was number five.

In 2010 the American car market share was 29% and the foreign car market share was 71% of the total United States market.

Pontiac did not exist on June 1, 2010.

It's really a shame that the industry turned in such a dramatic way....I believe
that the demographic shift in the last 30 years has also played a role in the way the industry changed. Also a perceived notion of a better quality build of the Imports.... Rolling Eyes Suspect
