69_RAG_TOP: My 1969 Pontiac Firebird Convertible

Post by 69_RAG_TOP on Tue May 04, 2010 9:03 pm

This first gen car is a 1969 Pontiac Firebird, Turbo 400 V8, nicely optioned, convertible with 104K miles. It has undergone a body and mechanical overhaul over a period of 3 years with attention to maintaining its stock and original appearance. Purchased in running condition in 2002, I am the 5th owner of this car. This convertible left the factory with its“YE” motor. The Turbo 400 transmission was rebuilt. It has the long tube cast iron factory headers. This car was built in Norwood Ohio with a hood tach, standard interior, gauges, power top, front disk brakes, AM radio, drivers side remote mirror, Rally rims with PMD center caps , wheel well and door chrome trim guards. The build sheet was found under the rear seat. It has the PHS documentation packet. The car still has T1 headlights, the protect-o-plate and original keys. The factory Rochester carburetor sits on the factory intake and the original distributor is there with an added electronic ignition kit. Recently Team Muscle Car replaced the cut front dash with another and reinstalled the AM radio, replaced the starter with a hi-torque unit, replaced the heat riser, installed new suspension bushings, new spindles, front end suspension parts and inner fender rear wheel wells. We also replaced the 4 core radiator, replaced the rear springs and put on a dual Flowmaster exhaust system for a really cool sound.

Larry I found another Picture of your 69

"This a photo shot of the 1969 Firebird convertible out to the Car Show 'Beach' Cruise In for a fun day. There were over 20 Firebirds and Trans Ams at the cruise. By the way, that is my surf board in the back seat of the Firebird ...the last time I used it I was 40 pounds lighter...lol"

I love ragtops!
Beautiful car, and red "rocks"! Wink

Got a better photo about that surfboard, Rick?
It looks kinda small (under 6 foot?)

George,

Yes, that surfboard is 6 feet long and is small for todays standards.
It was a hoot to run after small crests and to turn into a swell and catch a wave.

The last time I used that board I was 40 pounds lighter...lol

Nothing wrong with that!
I love small boards.
I am 6' 1" tall, and use a 6' 1" board.
I love cutting up and down waves fast. Very Happy
I brought my surfboard out here to the desert.
It just sits in my garage. Wink
